A Lot To Be Thankful For

On Thursday it is Thanksgiving and I think this will be the first time I am actually really excited about it. I am usually not a huge fan of this holiday. It’s mainly because from what I can remember I never did the huge family dinners. I don’t have a huge family. That’s why when I started dating Mike, I started having Thanksgiving dinner with him and his family. Mike’s family usually has these huge family dinners. However, this year they weren’t going to have as many people over. Mike’s brother is living in North Carolina now and can’t come home because of work. His sister lives in New Jersey and can’t come home this year either. The rest of his family lives in North and South Carolina and they usually don’t make the trip here. So this year it was looking like it was going to be Mike, his dad, mom, myself and possibly Mike’s eldest sister and her husband.

Every year my mom, brother and father have always been invited over to Mike’s house and every year my mom politely declines. This year I figured I would give it a try and see what she said. I am extremely thrilled that she and my brother will be joining us for dinner. My dad is still on the fence, but he’s weird when it comes to gatherings of any sort. So this Thanksgiving I will be spending it with my family as well as my future in-laws. I couldn’t be happier about it. Plus I get to see my bff (Mike’s cousin, Ed)!

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful and this year I have a ton to be thankful for. I am thankful that I will have successfully completed my undergrad degree. I am thankful for my wonderful family for always supporting me and helping me through this wedding and school. I am thankful for Mike’s family that has been so kind to me from the beginning and has made me a part of their family way before Mike proposed. I am thankful  to have such wonderful friends, every single one of them have been amazing and I love that those that are going to be a part of my big day have stepped up in such a big way. I am truly grateful for all of them.

Since I started planning the wedding, I have had so many people really push to help me and do everything in their power to help me with this. Not that I expected them not to, but I know it can be hard to help. Especially when all of our bridal party is in their 20s and they don’t have a ton of money and they are busy with school and work. But they all have been amazing and have been willing to help me whenever they can. My family and Mike’s family have been so amazing through this as well. Everyone has been so excited and willing to help Mike and me whenever they can. I am so incredibly grateful for them all.

Most of all I am grateful for Mike. I am so grateful to have found my soul mate at such a young age. I am thankful to have a guy who treats me so special and wants to spend the rest of his life with me. Mike is my best friend and our relationship has been so special. We’ve been through the good, the bad and the ugly, but through it all we always were there for each other. I am so excited to start this next chapter of our lives together. We have had some amazing memories together and I am thankful that he will continue to be my support and this time next year he’ll be my husband!

I am so thrilled about Thursday. Not only because it’s Thanksgiving, but to me it’s the kickoff of the holiday season. I love Christmas and the New Year celebrations. Also my birthday is in January and my anniversary is on Christmas. So I have a lot to look forward to during this time of the year.

This year, there is even more to look forward to because I am planning the wedding. In January, I plan on sending out the save-the-dates. I plan on getting my invitations printed late December or early January. I will be getting my wedding dress in December. I will be planning my bridal shower and will take my girls to look for their bridesmaid dresses. I also will have my engagement photos taken once the snow starts falling. These next few months are going to be super exciting and I am so thankful to be embarking on this journey! I also am excited to continue to share this experience with you! Well I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving and until next time!
